Samir secures community order for client charged with evading duty of over 160,000 cigarettes
Samir Pasha represented a young man charged with Affray as part of a fight that erupted outside a pub in June 2021. During the fight, which was all recorded on clear CCTV, the client’s brother who was also one of the co-defendants was stabbed in the stomach with a knife. Samir’s client raised self-defence in relation to the Affray charge and evidence was meticulously presented to the jury that demonstrated the constituent elements of self-defence.
The case had been ongoing since June 2021 when the incident initially occurred in St Albans, and originally had two other co-defendants being tried on the indictment who pled guilty on the 1st day of trial at St Albans Crown Court.
After 6 days of trial the jury returned a unanimous verdict of Not Guilty for Samir’s client after almost 4 hours of deliberation.
