We understand how stressful and overwhelming criminal proceedings can be. That’s why we take the time to understand your situation, explain your options, and work with you to build the strongest possible defence. Our barristers are skilled in negotiating with prosecutors, challenging evidence, and advocating for fair outcomes.
If you’ve received a notice of intended prosecution or are facing criminal charges, it’s essential to seek legal advice as early as possible. Courts are often less sympathetic to unrepresented defendants, and navigating criminal law without expert guidance can be extremely challenging.
At Hill House Chambers, we’re committed to protecting your rights and achieving the best possible outcome for your case. We can assist with drafting legal documents, preparing for hearings, and representing you in magistrates’ or Crown Court.
To find out more about how our criminal law team can help, contact us today to arrange a consultation. We’ll take the time to go through your case, explain the process, and provide a clear understanding of the potential outcomes and costs involved.

Our fees explained
An example of our barrister representation costs for a basic plea and sentencing hearing in the magistrates court would be £1000 + VAT, which is payable in instalments. The first £500 is due at the time of instruction and the additional £500 is payable seven days before the hearing is due to take place. This fee covers all the associated costs for court attendance for one hearing, including representation, preparation and reading time, as well as pre-hearing video call, travel and waiting time.
If, for reasons beyond our control or yours, the case is not concluded on the day, an additional fee of £500 + Travel expenses will be required to cover the costs associated with any subsequent hearings.
Costs may exceed the example if your hearing was listed for trial, in the crown court and court of Appeal.
