Crime News: National press reported on a case currently represented by Samir Pasha
This week, the national press reported on a case currently represented by Samir Pasha
Samir Pasha represented a client at Harrow Crown Court charged with a number of offences including threatening a person with an axe in a private place. He also has parallel proceedings in the magistrates’ court related to theft and assault.
Samir’s client was granted bail in the magistrates’ court, however the Crown Prosecution Service immediately appealed the decision and the matter was hearing in Harrow Crown Court. The prosecution set out that the offences were serious and the client already had a lengthy 27 convictions which included violent offences. The prosecution also relied on the short video footage of the incident related to the axe to support their submission that he was too dangerous to be released on bail.
Samir made astute submissions, drawing the Court’s attention to the reasoning given by the district judge in the magistrates’ court granting bail initially, and the weight of the video footage relied upon.
The Court agreed with Samir’s submissions and the appeal to rescind bail was refused and the client’s bail was reinstated the very day.
Instructed by MTC Solicitors.
