Samir Pasha secures a suspended sentence with a 12-month Community Order for client charged with Dangerous Driving, Failure to Stop, No Insurance and No License.
Samir’s client was charged with dangerous driving following an incident where she failed to stop when asked by the police, a pursuit ensued where she drove 50mph in a 20mph zone, overtook cars and drove the wrong way on a roundabout, before hitting a curb.
Robust mitigation and explanations were put forward by Samir, which outlined her young age, complete remorse, and non-deliberate manoeuvres during the incident borne out of panic and anxiety.
The client was initially expecting a custodial sentence, however, after submissions made by Samir, Croydon Magistrates Court imposed a suspended 22-week sentence with a 12-month Community Order to complete 200 unpaid work hours. She was also handed a 12-month driving disqualification, which is the lowest disqualification in the sentencing guidelines framework.
Instructed by Antonia Kim Charles of MTC Solicitors.
